Jocelyn Alice

Jocelyn Alice is a Canadian singer and songwriter with a fiercely powerful voice, heartfelt lyrics, and magnetic style influenced by her favourites such as Adele, Amy Winehouse, and Lorde. She is known for her flawless vocal control and extraordinary range of diverse pitches. Jocelyn’s debut single, the 2015 summer hit ‘Jackpot’, has reached the top 20 on multiple Canadian commercial radio charts including #18 Mediabase AC, #19 Mediabase Hot AC, #20 BDS CHR, and #20 Mediabase The Big Picture. Jackpot has also reached #11 on the Shazam Canada Top 100, #44 on the Billboard Canadian Hot 100, and #37 on the Billboard Hot Canadian Digital Songs chart.

Jocelyn’s music has been licensed on the hit TV shows One Tree Hill and Pretty Little Liars, the movie Dear Santa, and a USA nationwide Target television commercial. The cover single “So Groovy”, recorded by Jocelyn and Right The Stars for Target, has sold over 40,000 downloads, received over 350,000 combined YouTube views, and charted at #2 on the iTunes Singer/Songwriter chart in America.

Born and raised in Calgary, Alberta, Jocelyn was inspired by her father to pursue music from the time she was twelve. Her career began with local singing competitions, and by the time she was 17 she entered the media spotlight as a runner‐up in Canada’s reality TV series Popstars, where she emerged from more than 7000 entries nation-wide. Shortly following, Jocelyn felt she needed a break. After a two-year hiatus from both singing and song writing to re-evaluate her inspiration, Jocelyn could no longer deny her destiny. She had been working at a bar and when fellow employees slowly started hearing her voice, they pushed her to start singing again. And with a peppermill for a mic, she gave in. From there, Jocelyn went on to write, perform, and record many of her original songs with her 3-‐piece band, none of which were officially released.

In 2011, Jocelyn found bassist Lisa Jacobs. Together they took their careers in a different direction and started a new musical project: indie soul pop duo jocelyn & lisa (a unique sound-‐blend of pop, soul, reggae, and funk). Within their first two years they played nearly 300 shows (including NXNE and BreakOut West) and released an EP that charted #2 on CJSW. The duo was featured in the documentary, Crave, by LA filmmaker and best-‐selling novelist Erwin McManus, as well as in a Destination Calgary television commercial promoting Calgary around the world. Their single, Open Wide, off their 2012 album Weary Warrior was featured in the documentary, 1000 Days, by award-‐winning director Jeth Weinrich (Jann Arden, Chantal Kreviazuk, 54-40), as well as the TV show Degrassi. Their most recent release was the single Bound to You (August 2013).

Following the success of jocelyn & lisa, Jocelyn began to pursue her solo career, and is now set to release her debut solo pop album entitled Summer Life in the fall of 2015, a brand-new sound brought to life through exciting collaborations with electronic pop artists and world-renowned DJs, and Jocelyn’s undying love, need, and desire to tell her life’s stories through songs.
