We are Keys for Seniors, a non-for-profit student group at the University of Alberta. Our group is composed of dedicated students who hope to share our musical talents in meaningful ways by teaching seniors to play the piano. From countless studies, it is apparent that benefits of playing the piano is numerous and significant. For one, it was determined that seniors who learn to play musical instruments have higher cognitive abilities as well as improved mental health. Volunteers will have the chance to provide weekly, 1-hour lessons to seniors residing in nursing / assisted living homes.
